Thomas Boivin chipleader 54 left, Sylvain Loosli dernier tricolore en lice
The 2022 Wynn Millions began with 1,075 runners, of which 154 players returned on Tuesday for Day 3 action. After five 90-minute levels of play, the field was whittled down to just 54 players with Thomas Boivin and his stack of 2.5 million leading the pack.
Perhaps the most interesting story is that of defending champ Andrew Moreno, who is looking to do the improbably by defending his title and going back-to-back in the first two Wynn Millions. If you recall, last July Moreno topped a 1,328-entry field to win the inaugural Wynn Millions for $1,460,106 after a three-way deal. Moreno knows what it takes to win, and hes also on a bit of a heater after taking down the Venetian DeepStack Event #27: $2,500 Ultimate Stack last month for $242,293. Only time will tell if Moreno can repeat, but hell have 985,000 to work with on Day 4.
Others to make it through were Hyo Joo (2,080,000), Ian Matakis (1,775,000), Sylvain Loosli (1,305,000), Sam Soverel (1,300,000), Tony Sinishtaj (1,140,000), Shaun Deeb (1,015,000), Brock Wilson (530,000), and Vanessa Kade (485,000).
With only the top 116 getting paid, 38 players would leave empty-handed including Matas Cimbolas, Scott Ball, Matt Berkey, Christina Gollins, Steve Begleiter, and a trio of players who busted on the bubble (Leo Worthington-Leese, Ali Imsirovic, and Jake Schindler).
Once the bubble burst the in-the-money finished racked up quickly. Among those to earn a payday on Day 3 were Landon Tice (114th - $22,029), Tristan Wade (104th - $23,901), Aaron Massey (98th - $26,005), Scott Baumstein (88th - $28,475), Ben Yu (80th - $31,323), last years fourth-place finisher Salim Admon (74th - $31,323), JC Tran (73rd - $31,323), Daniel Lazrus (66th - $34,549), Nick Schulman (63rd - $34,549), and Johan Guilbert (55th - $38,384).
The surviving 54 players will return at noon local time on Wednesday for Day 4 action, which is slated to play five more levels. PokerNews will be on-site to capture all the action, so be sure to join us then to see who thrives and who fails to survive.
